Short answer? Yes.

Popular rides like TRON Lightcycle Power Run can easily hit wait times of 100+ minutes, even shortly after opening.
I used the Premier Access 6 package, and being able to skip multi-hour lines for rides like Zootopia: Hot Pursuit felt incredible.
Even on weekdays, some rides still maintain crazy wait times.

The newest and hottest area inside Shanghai Disneyland is easily Zootopia.

There can even be wait times just to enter the Zootopia section itself, and once inside, individual photo spots and stores also develop lines.
One important thing: popular merchandise sells out FAST.
Items like the Judy Hopps ears and themed accessories often disappear before noon because demand is so high.
If there’s merchandise you really want, go directly to the themed shops as soon as you enter the area.
As for Zootopia: Hot Pursuit — it completely lived up to the hype.
The technology, the movement, the immersive effects… it honestly felt like stepping directly into the movie.
Seeing characters like Judy and Nick up close somehow still felt magical, even as an adult.
5. Food Tips & How the Meal Coupons Work
The food vouchers included with some early bird tickets are useful, but there are a few catches.
- They usually don’t work at outdoor snack carts
- Most restaurants only allow one coupon per menu item
- You typically can’t stack multiple coupons onto one combo meal
I originally tried using multiple vouchers on one family set, but ended up having to reorder separate individual items instead.
Also — this may be controversial — but most food inside the park is pretty expensive for what you get.
If you want better value, the restaurants in Disneytown outside the park are honestly much better.
One standout was IPPUDO Ramen. The portions were solid, and after walking all day, a hot bowl of ramen absolutely saved me.

6. Final Thoughts: Is Shanghai Disneyland Worth Visiting?
By the time the fireworks ended around 9:15 PM, my legs were completely destroyed.
But standing in front of the illuminated castle, watching the fireworks explode over the park, somehow made the exhaustion disappear for a moment.
Even though many performances are primarily in Chinese, the shows rely heavily on music, visual effects, and choreography, so they’re still easy to enjoy without understanding every word.
One small tip: if you want great photos, actively look for Disney PhotoPass photographers throughout the park. They won’t magically find you.
And trust me — you’ll want at least a few good photos by the end of the day.
