If you’re planning a trip to Phu Quoc, one place almost every family traveler seems to visit is the famous Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc.
At first, I honestly thought it would just be another zoo. But after actually visiting, I was surprised by how massive the park was. The safari bus experience ended up being way more fun than expected, especially because you can see animals up close instead of from far away.
Phu Quoc trips usually involve a lot of relaxing at resorts and beaches, so adding one active day like this into the itinerary felt perfect.
It’s great for families with kids, but honestly couples would enjoy it too. There are surprisingly a lot of photo spots throughout the park.
If you’re staying in Phu Quoc for 3 nights or more, I’d definitely recommend spending at least one day here.

1. Ticket Booking
You can buy tickets on-site, but most travelers book in advance online.
Buying tickets beforehand is usually cheaper, and it also saves time since lines at the entrance can get pretty long.
There are several ticket options available:
- Vinpearl Safari admission only
- Combo ticket with VinWonders Phu Quoc
- Packages including round-trip shuttle transportation
A lot of travelers visit both VinWonders and Vinpearl Safari on the same day, so the combo ticket tends to offer the best value.
The regular safari ticket is usually around $28 to $35 USD for adults, while combo tickets with VinWonders generally start around $45 to $55 USD, depending on season and promotions.
Travel platforms often run discounts, and some credit card promotions can lower the price even more.
For my trip, I booked through a Korean travel platform because it had the cheapest rate during my travel dates.
If you’re staying in central or southern Phu Quoc, I highly recommend booking a package that includes transportation. The safari is located in the northern part of the island, and taxi fares can add up quickly.
Especially under the tropical heat, having round-trip shuttle service made the whole experience much easier.

2. Entering the Safari
Vinpearl Safari opens at 9:00 AM, and I highly recommend arriving right when it opens.
The park gets crowded surprisingly fast. If you arrive late, the safari bus lines become much longer, and the midday heat can get exhausting.
There’s also a VIP safari pass available, but apparently those sell out extremely quickly. I tried to buy one after arriving and they were already gone.
The VIP package includes a private vehicle and guide experience inside the safari area. It’s definitely expensive — over $75 USD — but I can see why families or travelers visiting with parents would consider it worth it.
The park is honestly much larger than expected. My dad got pretty tired walking around after a few hours.
Entry itself was easy. We simply showed the mobile voucher at the entrance and walked in. I’d recommend saving a screenshot of the QR code just in case your internet connection stops working.
Near the entrance, there are souvenir shops, snack stands, drinks, and stroller rentals available.
Once inside, grabbing a map is a good idea because the park is huge. Walking the entire place without breaks can get tiring, especially in the heat.
3. Animals & Experiences
Vinpearl Safari has most of the animals people expect to see:
- Giraffes
- Zebras
- Elephants
- Flamingos
- Lions
- Tigers
Some areas feel similar to a traditional zoo, but overall the animals feel much closer than expected. Kids especially seemed completely obsessed with it.
The most popular activity by far was the giraffe feeding experience.
The giraffes come incredibly close while eating carrots from visitors, and honestly they were both gigantic and adorable at the same time.
This area was probably the biggest photo spot in the entire park.
The flamingo section and bird zones were also beautifully designed and perfect for photos.
There are small animal performances and feeding shows throughout the day too, so checking the performance schedule beforehand can make the visit feel more organized.
4. Safari Bus Experience
The highlight of Vinpearl Safari is definitely the safari bus ride.
Once you board the bus, you enter areas where lions, tigers, bears, and other animals roam much more freely.
What makes it feel different from a normal zoo is that the humans stay inside the protected vehicle while the animals move around outside.
Seeing lions walk close to the bus was honestly one of the coolest moments of the day. Kids were excited, but adults seemed equally fascinated.
Even though the line for the safari bus can look intimidating, the buses run continuously so the wait moves fairly quickly.
One important tip: animals are much more active in the morning.
By afternoon, many of them hide in shaded areas because of the heat. If possible, ride the safari bus first thing in the morning.
Also, Phu Quoc’s sun is no joke. Bring:
- A hat
- Sunglasses
- Water
- Comfortable shoes
There’s much more outdoor walking involved than people expect.
Since the safari is located in northern Phu Quoc, transportation time varies depending on where you stay. If your hotel is near Grand World Phu Quoc, getting there is easy. But travelers staying in southern resorts will probably appreciate shuttle-inclusive packages much more.
Overall, I think Vinpearl Safari is absolutely worth visiting if you want a break from just relaxing at resorts all day.
For longer Phu Quoc trips, combining Vinpearl Safari and VinWonders into one active sightseeing day works really well.
After spending days at beaches and pools, it was actually refreshing to do something a little more energetic.
